Flying Unicorn April KOM & Once Upon a Sketch

Hi my lovely friends :)

I have been a slack blogger lately and have heaps of catching up to do which I hope to do over the next week or so.  We have started our 2 week school holidays here this week and the boys are buried deep in their lego boxes with their little brother always underneath them...he can't miss out on any action especially now he is crawling!

Okay back to this months Kit of the Month at Flying Unicorn.  Its full of 7 Dots Cold Country papers gorgeous embellishments and mixed media products.  But I have to be honest, it was the hardest kit to date for me to work with...dark grungy papers and purple...I will say no! It took me ages to "get into it" but when I did I was fairly happy with what I did.

This month Flying Unicorn are Guest Designers at Once Upon a Sketch...a challenge site that I LOVE but just never find the time to play along these days.  We were asked to create a layout based on this sketch and criteria.

Journalling Theme: "An event that changed my life..."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

My example...

"You Complete Me"

No explanation really needed for why I chose to scrap about the 4 handsome men in my life has definitely so much more meaning to it with them surrounding them to bits :)

Every month we get spoilt by the mixed media products that come with the kit and add ons. Alda does such a great job in getting the colours right to match the flowers and papers etc...  This month we received some Shimmerz Vibez in Jeni B Bleu which I have used in my background.  I have added some extra stamping using my favourite Prima Stamp.

Beautiful Prima the colours.  I added some extra flowers and a Prima vine to keep with my!  And some circle chipboard which I have painted in Solar Gold Silks Acrylic Glaze.

Hope you are inspired to play along this month at Once Upon a Sketch.  Flying Unicorn are a sponsor and the prizes are amazing!

Be back with some more inspiration soon.
Hugs xo

Flying Unicorn March OTP Project...

Hi there everyone :)))

Back with you to share this months OTP project which is available with the Main Kit at Flying Unicorn

Each month the main kit comes with an OTP item.  I have never been a huge OTP fan...I find them fiddly and then there is always...what to do with!! But I am actually enjoying doing something different lately and the great thing about the OTP item in the kit is we get to create whatever we like and with whatever products we like (if we want to).

My boys are always collecting things...typical boys, they have loads of special treasures they when I saw what this months OTP item was I decided to create them a little treasure box.

In the mixed media add on was some Martha Stewart Crackle I first of all covered this little box with Gesso and then crackle paint.  I have used a combination of Shimmerz Vibez Blue Jeans, Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist in Buccaneer Bay Blue (which was also included in the add on).

Searched high and low for all my cog and gear chipboard (lol!!).  Combination of 2Crafty, Dusty Attic and A2Z Scraplets....layered them all up and used Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Blue Suede Shoes, Silks Acrylic Glaze in African Jade, Stargazer and Solar Gold.

Final touches were some stamping, more Tattered Angles Glimmer Glaze in Indian Summer, Prima flowers and metal embellishments.

Wishing you all a fun filled and happy weekend...
Be back next week with more projects :)))
Thank so much for all your kind messages...

Flying Unicorn March KOM - Part 3

Hi everyone :))

Where is March going?? Can't believe we are over half way through March and I have still more to share with you all using the Flying Unicorn March KOM and add ons.  There are still some left in store so if you are after a great kit full of yummy products and great value for money...head on over.

For the layout below I was inspired by an online class I took of Georgia Heald called Pop and Colours #2.  Georgia has some crazy talent and I loved watching her process.  So the background of this layout is inspired be her...thanks Georgia and thanks for sharing your tips :))

"Catching Bubbles"

Went with a circle theme here... the kit came with a circle Prima mask and a circle stamp from Bo Bunny...
The gorgeous Aqua blue mist here is from 13 Arts which was also included in the Mixed Media Add On.  I have used a combination of the mist and gelatos on my layout.

Got to keep going...have loads to do and deadlines approaching!!
Thanks so much for popping in :))

Guest Designer at Off the Rails Scrapbooking

Well I am back again today with some exciting news...

I was asked to be Guest Designer for a challenge blog called Off the Rails Scrapbooking.  Its a relatively new challenge blog with loads of inspiration and great challenges each month.  Its not very often I get asked to do this sort of thing so I jumped at the chance.

This month the challenge is "Bling it Up"

oooh I was chance to go all sparkly...and that I did!

"Happy Memory"

I was so excited to just do something for fun. I have used some of the gorgeous MME paper range Cut and Paste...yeah finally getting around to using some of the papers I got before I had Luca :)))

Beautiful Manor House flowers and the butterfly chipboard piece is from Scrap FX as well as some Freckled Fawn heart chipboard pieces.

I totally loved getting my Twinkling H20's out again for my background,  I used Coral Berry...such a delicious colour, its sort of a combination of pink/red/orange and my Tim Holtz Distress loads of gold sequins.

Hope you have a go at this and glitter is all the trend at the moment so if you have been wanting to have a is your chance.

Thanks so much to Amanda Sousa and her team for having me this month.

Have a wonderful weekend :))
